wanwan ran away and katie’s going to new orleans

Sep 29, 2022

Hurricane Ian cancelled Katie’s bachelorette party (that was already a non-bachelorette party). Slated to get married in October, her man bailed and got another chick pregnant. (Good riddance to the butt turd!) Since the bachelorette cruise was already scheduled and paid for, the group — plus other friends of the bride and minus the groom’s friends — was to leave tomorrow.

Queue Ian and devastation…

Because the hurricane cancelled those plans, the choice was made to instead spend a long weekend in New Orleans. They leave today.

Poor Katie! Seems like her wedding was doomed the second she chose her groom. 😢 She’s taking it like a boss and I’m proud of her.

Wanwan went MIA.

Last night, Ben’s 17 year-old chihuahua, Wanwan, escaped into the darkness. He let her out as I was talking to him on the phone and she disappeared from view within seconds. He began calling her but that didn’t work — the old girl is deaf and just about blind.

It was the first time I missed living in Seymour — I was too far away to help find her. Ben went on the hunt without success. She was GONE!

I suggested he call the police.

Ok, so that’s not a “real” emergency, but the police do patrol and might just happen to see her. Right? It just so happens they DID help. Someone (I’m guessing a neighbor) called the police when they found a tiny dog with a “bad eye.”

Wanwan had just taken a ride in a police car and would be staying the night in the humane society’s hotel.

Meanwhile, I have to have a doggie gate to keep the black hound from Hell off the stairs. Dharma wouldn’t attempt the feat but Merida loves to explore.
