sunset #18 of 52 – and other stuff

Feb 3, 2023

The sky was gorgeous at Barndo Creek last night. So pretty that I walked out on the cold deck barefoot just to snap a quick photo…

I waited until it was almost too dark to capture — but it was beautiful just the same.

What’s the talk about a food shortage?

Experts say food shortages continue to be a challenge in the US and will likely continue throughout 2023. Scary stuff, right? Ukraine is one of the main suppliers of wheat and we know all about what’s going on there. Reuters says Brazil is diverting more sugarcane to ethanol production — and that sucks for food prices and availability. And there’s an aluminum shortage so you better learn to make your own biscuits… remember the wheat issue though.

I may need to rethink the chicken project again. 😉

In the meantime, I ordered another small freezer. Oftentimes, when I shop my belly is bigger than my freezer. I know it’s a bad habit, but it’s handy to be able to pull an already prepared meatloaf out of the freezer for a quick dinner — or even a pizza for a late night snack.

Mr. Pesky’s garden is just another reason why I love rural living. 🙂
