holiday weekend coming to an end – so is summer

Sep 4, 2023

A muggy morning — even though it was in the low 70s — and a hot day incoming for the last of the long, holiday weekend. Labor Day marks the end of summer but the first day of fall isn’t until September 23rd. I didn’t have the heart to close the pool this weekend, but the time for doing that is getting short. We should probably tackle that today. 🙁

Happiness (for me anyway) is always having something to look forward to!

When summer is coming to an end, I look forward to the leaves changing colors and the cooler temps. We love to cook hot dogs over the solo stove and the time we spend with friends outside wearing sweatshirts without bugs.

When the leaves are gone, I look forward to snow. I love the clean, white fluffy stuff and decorating for Christmas. I love how it feels when I enter a warm house and I enjoy the glow of candles. By mid-winter, I’m ready to move on. February is pretty blah in Indiana.

Afternoons when the sun is overhead is my favorite time in spring, but spring is my least favorite season. Knowing what’s coming after the rain is uplifting, but spring means hard work. It also means spring storms — and I sure hate those. Getting the yard put back together and more is no fun, but I do like seeing the trees bud out and the flowers that begin to bloom.

Before you know it, it’s summertime — and summer in Indiana, while hot, is wonderful.

Dharma likes every season!

Funny how dogs just roll with the flow no matter what season it is. If I were to guess, I’d say her least favorite time of year is summer. She wears a heavy coat year round, after all. 🙂
