spring to winter in the blink of an eye

Feb 16, 2024

The large window in the upstairs bedroom faces the south and gets sun about all day long. I’m guessing that’s why I’m in a battle against stink bugs up there. I’ve checked for spots where the little boogers might get in and found no gaps. For the last 2 days I’ve sucked them up into the vacuum, and this morning I broke out the clove oil.

Next, I lit a candle to offset that scent.

Now the entire upstairs smells like I’m cooking something yummy.

I’m guessing the stink bugs are confused… they think it’s spring. I’ve even got lilies poking their heads out of the ground. The temps have been warm for mid February. We’ve had days in the high 50’s to mid 60’s for over a week. Add the warm sunshine to that and even I thought it was spring.

But now, we’re under a winter weather advisory for snow and it’s started! 🥶

Dharma hopes we get at least a foot of snow!

Barely above freezing this morning and the forecast is calling for more accumulating snowfall overnight. If that’s not bad enough news, the bunnies I thought were living in the wood pile? I found out last night it’s actually a skunk! Once the barking hounds came inside, the smell outside was awful. At least neither Merida nor Dharma got sprayed.

I can’t wait to see what happens when Perry sees him — or the skunk sees Perry. Oh my!

What’s up with all the stinky stuff here? Ain’t rural living just grand?
