I started my morning before 7:00 AM. After dog detail — that includes me walking Dharma off the deck in my shortie pajamas and fuzzy Ugg slip-ons that Ben says look like medieval peasant shoes — I cleaned the oven. Morning coffee infused with the smell of vinegar isn’t a great way to start any day. 🤢
Perry has to pull an overnight tonight and I wanted to make a few things for dinner that require an oven that doesn’t fill the kitchen with smoke. Yes, that happened a couple days ago.
What’s for dinner?

Perry did an amazing rub concoction on this standing rib roast and smoked it for several hours in his new Pit Boss. It was still a bit rare for my taste, so today I’m going to try to get it a tad more done in the oven without drying it out.
Did I mention there’s a huge chunk missing that was eaten last night? And I do mean chunk since this butcher’s daughter doesn’t own a good butcher knife. To compliment the probably dried out meat, I’ll be making baked beans, mashed potatoes, and garlic bread. And for dessert, I’m going to attempt…
A copycat version of Starbucks cranberry bliss bars

I’ll share a photo of my finished product — even if it’s a fail — along with the recipe tomorrow. Wish me luck!
