ants and stinkbugs don’t die when it’s freezing outside

Jan 16, 2024

The barndo grows some smart ants. I don’t know where they come from, but I only have them in the winter. That’s odd, I think. I thought those little suckers were only around in the summertime and cold weather would freeze them out. I guess not. What I do know is they HATE sweet orange essential oil and my kitchen smells wonderful.

I’ve only seen one stink bug since it’s gotten so cold, but that’s one too many. He was just sitting in the bathroom upstairs on the ceiling. I love rural living, but I’m not a fan of bugs. Ugh!

Dogs do better in cold weather than humans.

Merida outside in the cold.

It’s a fact that Dharma likes the cold more than Merida does. She has the coat for it while Merida’s slick, thin hair doesn’t offer nearly as much protection from the elements. Out to do her business and she’s ready to get back inside. While it was dreary yesterday morning, the day did shape up nicely with sunshine — it just didn’t warm up.

No matter, the girls are ready to venture outside at least 10 gazillion times every single day. 🥶
