never underestimate the power of small habits

Feb 19, 2024

When you get in a habit of doing the same things at the same time it’s routine. And, life is smoother with routines — the same time to sleep and get up, work, exercise, and do random household requirements. Maybe it’s just the way my brain is wired or maybe it’s because I’m getting older, but without a routine I can’t seem to accomplish much.

My routine has been disrupted and I’m struggling.

My “to do” list grows and while the “done” checkmarks diminish.

I’ve been at the barndo over a year and have yet to patch the nail holes and touch up the paint upstairs. About the only action up there is me going up to water plants and take an occasional sunset photo. Like last night…

Yesterday, Perry helped me move the bed from the upstairs bedroom to the loft in preparation for a new king bed arriving tomorrow that will replace it. Coco’s bed belonged to Katie and she took it when she moved. Now’s the perfect time to change the entire upstairs from unfinished space into a “real” living area.

The goal is set! 😁

This week, I’m going to patch nail holes, sand and paint — and even hang curtains. I’ll share progress here and also on whatifitdid.com because there WILL be progress. It’s past time for me to get my routines back in alignment, and structure my days to include good habits.
