Do you grow things to remind you of people you love?

May 2, 2024

When I was a kid, I remember my Nanny had a huge snowball bush at the corner of her house. I loved the big white balls of flowers — and so did every bee in Crothersville, Indiana. 🐝

I’d love to plant one here at the barndo, but haven’t so far. The other plant that reminds me of Nanny is a rose of Sharon and I don’t have one of those yet either.

The previous homeowners here must’ve loved someone that loved irises.

There are a few purple ones, but most are yellow and brown. (Ugh!) I’m pulling the weeds and keeping a clean edge between them and the yard, but this is one area I’m not touching or changing this year.

If I EVER finish the major landscaping project areas, I’ll be sure to at least pick up a snowball bush to remind me of Nanny.

What about you? Do you grow things to remind you of people you love?
