Have you noticed that almost every single personal branding statement includes the word “passion” or “passionate”?
Y’all know what a personal brand is, right?
Personal branding is the process of defining (and often promoting) what you stand for as an individual. This topic is on my mind because yesterday was one of those work days that required a whole lot of research (company objectives, history, and more) before I massaged our content to fit their needs. I next applied that information along with graphics to create a single, visually pleasing PDF.
Does that mean my personal brand should be something like the following statement?
An old woman that massages content and curates stylishly designed deliverables.
That won’t work… there’s no form of the word passion. It’s a fail! And it doesn’t say anything about my hound dogs or rural living — the 2 things I am somewhat passionate about. (Honestly, I’m not sure I’m passionate about anything.)
Let’s talk it over with ChatGPT — AI has all the answers to all the questions in the universe.
Here’s what ChatGPT came up with:
- Rural living senior marketing designing with a passion for her beloved canine companions.
- A senior woman journeying to paws and pastures with a passion for a simple lifestyle and graphics.
Sheesh! Those are fails too. AI’s suggestions are worse than what I came up with. Lemme try again…
Personal branding statements contain 3 elements:
- this is what people can expect
- this is how people will receive it
- this is what makes you unique
