I posted on whatifitdid.com about my brother’s move back to Indiana and this is a morning update of their travels…
I wasn’t aware that Flagstaff, AZ averages 116 inches of snow in the winter months. When I received a text message from Scott around 7:00 AM ET, I checked their current weather online. Overnight, they had a blinding snowstorm.
Making memories — and not necessarily good ones.
Scott said the snowstorm caused literally the worst driving conditions he’s ever been in. Traveling 25 mph for around 100 miles, they caused traffic to stop on I-40 as their SUV pulling a U-Haul struggled to make it up a hill. 🥶
After 9-hours of driving, they didn’t make their projected goal of Winslow. Instead, it took them that long to drive just over 240 miles to Flagstaff (what should’ve taken 3.75 hours). They’re sleeping as long as possible before starting out once again, and I wonder what conditions they’ll awaken to.
It looks like what they drove through is catching up to them as they snooze.
Looking at a current weather cam, it’s currently snowing there with a projected 12″ by 5:00 PM PT.
Although the first leg of their journey didn’t go as planned, here’s hoping they make better time today without any set-backs.
