take time to smell the roses — and pet your dog

Apr 29, 2024

Not much happened insofar as the landscaping projects yesterday. (See the latest here on whatifitdid.com.) There was simply too much other stuff going on.

Perry was still smoking pork butt at 2:00 AM Sunday morning. Colette got here around 6:30 AM and I took her to Franklin — that’s about 2 hours in the car. Once I returned, I finished up the pulled pork and we had a late lunch with those Pesky neighbors.

Mr. Pesky went home to nap, but ole’ Perry didn’t get a chance to.

Perry got called into work for a couple hours. Then he stacked wood and mowed the side of the yard that’s been too wet to mow. I wacked weeds around the house.

I’ll admit, I’m a type A personality. But not Perry! He’s as laid-back as they come. While I’m slinging weeds like a wild woman, he stopped to pet his dog.

In life’s hustle and bustle, it’s easy to get caught up in the rush.

We should all remember to take more moments to pause, breathe, and appreciate the simple joys that surround us every day. And pet our dogs, too. It’s those moments of quiet reflection that rejuvenates our spirits and fosters gratitude for the present moment.

I’m going to try to do better. I hope you pause and reflect more often, as well.
